MorseRing brings intelligence to your smart phone’s caller id. Usually when you receive a number, the text of the person’s name or number is displayed on the phone. That’s great, but if you’re across the room that doesn’t help much. MorseRing is a Morse code ringtone that takes your caller id to the next level by beeping out the caller’s name or number using Morse code! Additionally, if you’re the only who understands the code, then no one else will know who’s calling! It’s a great way to learn and practice Morse code.
Features:
- Blink option
- Vibrate option
- Begin message sequence (so that you can listen for the Morse)
- Default message to use when no number is available
- Customizable speed
- Customizable tone
- Implements international Morse code
- Beeps out the caller’s name if they are in your contact list
- Beeps out the caller’s number if they are not in your contact list
If you have any comments or suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
Installation/Setup Steps:
- Download/install app
- Run app from programs menu
- Make sure that sure that the ‘Enable Ringtone’ setting is checked
- In the system’s ringtone list (or for a given contact), select
‘MorseRing Ringtone’ as the ringtone
Is this working for the Atrix yet?
I have v2.3.4 (new update) of the Atrix and want to give this a try if you think it will work.
I think I’ve heard mixed reviews on the Atrix. Give it a shot and if it doesn’t work you can send me your order number for a refund.
Since downloading the latest version of MorseRing, where it no longer appears in the ring list, my Sprint HTC Evo Android v2.3.3 now plays morse code and the default ring tone at the same time. There is no way to turn off the default ring tone on the android so I am stuck with morescode and a ringtone simultaneously.
I hope you can fix this. It is annoying.
Otherwise, this is an awesome program, I love it!
Dave
You bet…in you ringtone list there should be a ringtone called ‘Silence’. Thanks!
Wow, too simple.
Not sure how I missed that one.
Thanks.

Just curious, why does this app require internet access permission? Would like to download, but want to understand this first. Thank you!
Hi great question! The app is based on a library that I use for all my ‘smart’ ringtones. The library supports ads (though MorseRing doesn’t show ads and that’s why I gave it internet permissions. Now that I think about it though, the library should work find without it. …I’m going to review this because I think Internet permission is unused in the app. Thanks much for contacting me!
The internet permission requirement has been removed…thanks for the question.
Understood. I downloaded the app, and it works fine on my HTC G2. My wife thinks I’m getting way too geeky, but I love it!
Thanks.
Haha, very nice!
The Morsering app. has stopped working on my Sprints LG Optomus S after Sprints terrible Gingerbread update. It gives the ‘pre amble’ but then nothing more. It is not listed in the ring tones. I uninstalled and re-install but the same. I miss this app. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Thanks for contacting me… Yes that update really threw a wrench into things! Please send me a log to verify the cause of the problem–unfortunately, if it was caused by the update, I have little hope of being able to work around it at this point. If that does indeed prove to be the case, you can certainly send me your order number for a refund.
To send a log, please start the app, go to the menu, choose ‘Get Help’,
click the ‘Send Log’ button, and follow the directions.
Hi!
Great app, works on my “HTC Wildfire S” running 2.3, with one exception; it is not listed under ringtones. However, that is not my biggest problem, what I would like to ask: is it possible to have it switch to vibrate mode when the phone is in vibrate mode, and to have it in ring mode when the phone is in ring mode. Otherwise it works good.
Thanks
Kovacsics Robert
Thanks! It’s true, it doesn’t show up in the ringtone list and this is by design actually. Note that if you just want to hear MorseRing, you can select ‘Silent’ for your system ringtone. As for the vibration feature, that’s a great idea. I’m pretty book right now, but I’ll add that to the list of things to do.
Just purchased and I love it! I’ve used a generic cq ringtone for years and was dreading sitting down to record to all of the custom ringtones for each of my most frequent callers. Luckily I found your app and it was well worth the cost.
Thanks!
Cool, thanks for commenting!
… what a nice app for CW freaks! Maybe you can add a self defined fixed text field before the ringtone starts: e.g. ‘DL5CW de ‘ or ‘QRZ de ‘
Merry xmas! Andy, DL5CW
nice App works really good, the only thing I miss is that it does not know the question mark sign (?) for suppressed numbers. Therefore the default message cannot be ??
maybe they can improve this for a 5 star rating
Thanks for the suggestion! I’m booked right now, but I’ll keep it in mind for the future.
